A teambuilding your team won’t dread

There are two ways a teambuilding ends.

Either people leave with a polite “yeah, that was nice” and forget it by Monday. Or they leave talking — about who did what, who surprised them, what they want to do next year. About each other, not about the activity.

We build the second kind.

For 25 years we have run team games for corporate Dubai and Abu Dhabi – from Microsoft Middle East and Acwa Power to Mazrui, Daman, Hisense, Lulufin, Jaguar Land Rover and EGA. Half-day mornings or full days. Indoor formats when needed, outdoor when the weather lets us. Always: inclusive games that fit every fitness level, a platform that builds excitement six weeks before the day, and a crew that runs the whole thing so you can be present, not in charge.

4 moments when teambuilding actually moves the needle.

Most teambuildings happen because “we should do something this year.” Those rarely work. The ones that work happen at a specific moment, for a specific reason. These are the four we hear most often:

After a merger or restructure. Two teams who used to be separate. New reporting lines, new desks, new tension. A teambuilding here is not “fun”, it’s structured proximity. People need to discover each other before they can work together.

After a hard quarter. Sales targets missed, project deadlines slipped, layoffs in the news. People are bracing. A teambuilding here is recognition: “we see you, we got through it together, here’s the reset before we go again.”

When a new generation joins. You’ve hired thirty graduates over the last twelve months. They don’t know the old guard. The old guard is suspicious of them. A teambuilding bridges that – not through a workshop, through shared experience.

As a yearly ritual. The simplest one. Every October, your team plays. Every October, the new joiners are introduced. Every October, the previous winners defend their title. It becomes part of company culture, not an event.

If you recognise yourself in one of these, you’re on the right page.

What a day looks like

We get asked for an example schedule weekly. Here is the most common one: a half-day morning format for 100 to 250 people. Adjust for headcount and timing as needed.

08:30 — Coffee, croissants, registration. Your people arrive at the venue and find their team table. Team identities are already built on our Tornea platform in the weeks before, so people show up knowing their team name, captain and rivals.

09:00 — Opening, warm-up, captain briefing. Our MC takes the stage. Music up. Energy up. Five minutes of context, five minutes of stretching, five minutes of “here’s how this works.”

09:30 — Games block one. Three games in parallel rotation. Teams move between game zones every fifteen minutes. Our referees handle scoring on Tornea in real time. The live leaderboard is visible to everyone.

11:00 — Coffee break. Fifteen minutes. Picture missions on the platform during the break, the most-liked photo wins points.

11:15 — Games block two. Three more games. Different mechanics: one strategic, one physical, one creative. The leaderboard tightens.

12:30 — Lunch. Sit at your team table. We project the leaderboard on the screen.

13:00 — Awards ceremony. Winner. Fairplay team. Best dressed. Best team photo. Smartest team. Everyone goes home with something.

13:30 — Your team leaves on a high, talking.

That’s a half-day. Full-day formats add more games, optional content sessions, and (if you want) an evening close with drinks and a DJ.

The 6 weeks before the day.

A teambuilding that starts at 8:30am on day-of is half a teambuilding.

Six weeks before your event, your people get access to Tornea, our mobile team engagement platform, white-labelled with your company brand. They build their team identities: name, slogan, captain, photo. They complete picture missions. They challenge other teams. By the time the day arrives, they are invested and you didn’t have to do a thing.

For you, this means three things: stronger engagement on the day itself, internal buzz running in the weeks before (employer branding running automatically in the background), and a clear dashboard showing who’s participating and who isn’t.

For us, it’s how we know your teambuilding will work before we even arrive at the venue.

4 locations. 4 scales. Same craft.

Most agencies show you their best case and hope you fit. We’d rather show you the range, so you can place your own team somewhere along it.

LuluFin Mini-Olympics — Al Maya Island Resort, Abu Dhabi

100 people at Al Maya, Abu Dhabi. A 2.5-hour afternoon teambuilding for the LuluFin team, with five games designed for an intimate, premium-feeling setting. Just a tight group, a great venue by the sea, and a leaderboard that mattered until the last minute.

Best for: smaller teams (50 to 200 people) who want a teambuilding that feels exclusive rather than corporate.

Hisense Desert Teambuilding — Noble Camp, UAE desert

100 people in the dunes. A half-day team experience at Noble Camp, weaving diverse games together with the natural drama of the desert setting. Powered by Tornea, run by a Herculean crew, delivered alongside our partner agency.

Best for: companies who want to combine teambuilding with UAE heritage.

EGA Tech Department — The Sevens Stadium, Dubai

85 people on the grass pitches at The Sevens Stadium. A half-day morning teambuilding for EGA’s technology division, with six inclusive games in rotation, the Tornea platform engaging teams for weeks beforehand, and an awards ceremony to close. Outdoor, sharp, energising.

Best for: corporate teams of 50 to 1000+ who want a clean, professionally run half-day or full day at the UAE’s biggest outdoor sports venue, just 25 min from Dubai.

Daman Customer Challenge — Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi

1,000 people. One day. One leaderboard. The most ambitious teambuilding we have run in the UAE — a company-wide event for Daman (now part of PureHealth), with games running across multiple zones, parallel team competitions, a live leaderboard that hundreds of people checked obsessively, and an awards ceremony that closed the day with the whole company watching.

Best for: companies looking to do a full-scale, no-corner-cut team day for 500+ people in one location.

Safmarine Teambuilding
Safmarine Trophy

Built in Belgium. Refined across ten countries. In the UAE since 2011.

The UAE work is the most visible part of what we do, but it’s part of a longer story. We started in Belgium in 1999 and ran team programs in ten countries. From NY to Johannesburg.

The cases that travel best across borders, and that have shaped how we work in the UAE today:

  • Deloitte Games — a company-wide teambuilding for Deloitte Belgium, refined over multiple editions into one of the most consistent corporate game formats in our portfolio.
  • ING Hello Summer — a private game day delivered for ING Belgium. 750+ participants, full setup, the model we use for our largest UAE clients.
  • Novartis Games — teambuilding for Novartis, with a quote from Assistant to the CEO still on our website: “The entire organization was fabulous and the atmosphere was unforgettable.”
  • Safmarine Trophy — global teambuilding day in Munch, connected with their CSR goals

What this means for you: you get a teambuilding designed at international corporate standards, refined across thousands of events on three continents, and delivered locally by 2 founders who live here.

Honest about scope.

We’re good at certain things. We’re not good at others. Worth saying upfront before you spend more time on this page.

It works well for:

  • Groups of 50 to 1,000+ people, in one location
  • Companies with mixed demographics: men and women, different fitness levels, different cultural backgrounds, different ages. Our games are designed for that mix.
  • Organisations who want their teambuilding to do one thing well – connect people – rather than four things at once.
  • Half-day mornings or afternoons (most common in the UAE) or full days (for bigger ambitions or off-sites).
  • Indoor venues, outdoor venues, hotel grounds, sports facilities. We work with what fits your needs and budget.

It works less well for:

  • Groups smaller than 50 people – the team-vs-team dynamic needs critical mass.
  • Companies looking for a pure adrenaline experience (skydiving, obstacle races, desert rallies). We do laughter and connection, not extreme sport.
  • Briefs where the teambuilding is an afterthought to a bigger event. If the games are squeezed into 90 minutes between speeches and dinner, the value mostly evaporates. Better to do it separately and properly.
  • One-off bookings with no pre-engagement window. The 6-week buildup is half the value.

If you’re not sure where you fall, send us a note. We’ll tell you straight.

What we handle. What we don’t.

To avoid the “what’s in the price” conversation halfway through your internal review:

We bring:

  • Full event format design, adapted to your brief
  • Tornea engagement platform, white-labelled with your brand, live six weeks before the event
  • All games set up before you arrive, removed after you leave
  • MC, referees and crew for the entire day
  • Live scoring, live leaderboard, awards ceremony content
  • Photo and video coverage of the day, delivered within one week
  • Post-event impact report: participation rates, satisfaction scores, photo and video library for your internal comms

You bring:

  • The venue (or let us suggest one — we work with several across the UAE)
  • Food and beverage (coordinated through the venue)
  • Your team. On time. With a willing attitude.

You don’t bring:

  • Any of the logistics
  • Stress about whether it will work
  • A backup plan in case something goes wrong

Let’s talk about your team.

Tell us what you have in mind. Headcount, dates, what you want the day to do. We’ll come back within 24 hours with a proposal: venue options, format, pricing, the lot.

If you want to talk first, we can schedule do a 30-minute call. No deck, no pitch, just questions.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a corporate teambuilding day last?

Most of our teambuildings in the UAE run as a half-day morning, typically from 08:30 to 14:30 – including welcome coffee, two blocks of games, lunch, and an awards ceremony. Full-day formats add more games, optional content sessions, and (if you want) an evening close with drinks and a DJ. We tend to avoid late evenings in the UAE because corporate clients prefer their teams home on time.

How many people can participate in a Herculean teambuilding?

Anywhere from 50 to 1,000+ in one location, on one day.

How much does corporate teambuilding cost in Dubai?

Cost varies with headcount, format, venue and add-ons. We don’t publish price lists because every event is custom, but for context, a standard half-day for 100 people lands in a different range than a full-day for 500. The fastest way to get a real number is to send us a short note with your headcount, dates and what you want the day to do. We come back with a proposal within 24 hours.

What’s the difference between teambuilding and a team event?

A team event is anything that brings your people together – drinks, dinner, an off-site, a conference. A teambuilding is specifically designed to build the team: structured activities, mixed groups, deliberate interactions between people who don’t usually work together. Most “team events” leave the existing dynamics intact. A real teambuilding rearranges them. That distinction matters for what you brief and what you measure.

Can teambuilding work for mixed fitness levels?

Yes – that’s the whole point of our format. Our games are designed for groups with mixed fitness, age, gender, and cultural background. No physical strength is required for any core game. We’ve run events where the captain was 65 years old, where a third of the team wore hijabs, where some participants used wheelchairs. Inclusion isn’t an add-on for us, it’s the design specification.

Do you organise teambuildings outdoors or indoors?

Both. Outdoor is our default – better energy, more space, more memorable – but the UAE summer makes May to September indoor-only for most groups. From October to May we work outdoors at venues including The Sevens Stadium, Al Maya, and various hotel grounds. Indoor formats run year-round at hotel ballrooms, conference centres, and convention venues across the UAE.

How far in advance should we book?

For half-day formats: 6 to 8 weeks minimum, ideally 10 to 12. The pre-engagement phase on Tornea runs 4-6 weeks before the event and is half the value of working with us. Less than 4 weeks before the event, we’ll be honest with you about whether we can deliver to our standards and if not, we’ll suggest a different format or date.

Can you do teambuilding for international teams flying into Dubai?

Yes. Several of our clients fly remote teams to Dubai specifically for the teambuilding. International leadership offsites, sales kick-offs, post-merger integration. We coordinate with your DMC or travel partner if needed. For multinational teams, English is our working language; our games translate across cultures by design.
